Kate Cheney – Trade Mark Attorney

Kate studied Intellectual Property as part of her law degree and gained a deep interest in trade mark law when she completed her dissertation on the changes in trade mark law in the UK. After concluding the LPC in Nottingham, Kate joined Carpmaels & Ransford, the well-established London based firm of patent and trade mark attorneys where she trained and qualified.

During her time there she built up a broad range of experience including trade mark clearance searching, advising on the inherent registrability of trade marks, advising on global portfolio strategies, filing and prosecution of UK and European Union trade mark applications and oppositions, filing and prosecution of International Registrations under the Madrid Protocol, advising on and filing overseas trade mark applications, global assignment work and advising on infringement issues.

Kate represents a variety of global portfolios for clients with such diverse interests as whisky, lawnmowers and clothing

Kate is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys and for 7 years was an Examiner for the Institute.

Claire has extensive knowledge of all aspects of trade mark and designs formalities and also has experience of registering and maintaining domain names.

Claire currently deals with formalities work with Jennifer Hitchcock and Kate Cheney's teams.

Sue works with Jennifer Hitchcock, Kate Cheney's teams providing technical assistance.

Before joining Nucleus IP Deborah worked in the surveying industry.

Deborah is part of Jennifer Hitchcock's team.

In addition to her secretarial duties to Deborah makes good use of her organisational skills, keeping evidence packs up to date for major clients. This negates the need to revert to clients each time evidence is required for a contentious matter.
